Writing Day-Conversations with Myself

Today I took a different route and answered self-discovery questions. It was tough, but I was as honest as I could be.

Writing Day--Conversations with Characters

I decided to do something a bit different today--a conversation with one of my characters. Her name is Artemis. And that is all I'm going to say. :)

Is this an interview?Collapse )

Writing Day!

What a hectic week! We adopted a stray, kept her safe, then found a good home for her in the country-ish. And because it's been raining all week, and Elliott has been learning to crawl everywhere, and bumping her head, it's just been nigh impossible to write! So, here's a belated writing.

I'm really pleased with how the beginning is, but not too happy with the ending. But that's what writing is all about, right? Happy with some, sad with others, angry with the rest.

Enjoy!

Day 8 of Writing

Today's prompt was simple: They must never talk to the child.
I wanted to work on some character dialogue (showing, not telling), so this piece is mostly dialogue, and as my husband says, I could always flesh it out later for a proper short story. Hope it's not too confusing, and hope you enjoy it, Pate Man!

Writing Day!

I didn't write at all this weekend, but come on--I'm a mom to a 6 month old, I have a husband who I want to hang out with, and a dog to play with. Plus, most of us in the house were recovering from colds. So....I'm excused :)

Anyway, today's piece comes from a conversation I had with my husband.

Woo! So far, so good. Today's prompt is super short, but sometimes we need that. Enjoy!

Prompts that don't suck 8

So this one counts as two days. Hey, I'm allowed--been taking care of a sick child who is teething. Two-fold! I've realized that I'm quite morbid, and I'm fine with that. So anyway, for those of you reading (I think Pate man has stuck with me) hope you enjoy the dark corners of my mind.

Writing, Day 2

So far, so good on this daily writing practice. As my husband and I were saying, there are going to be days of great writing, and there are going to be days of crap. But, the whole point is practice, practice, practice. (yeah, yeah, memories of math rote fill my mind).
So today, I give you a very short and morbid piece.

Writer Igniter Prompt 1

Wow. So my last post was in 2014, and I mentioned something about delays in posting. It is now nearly May of 2016. I'm a mother to a six month old. I've quit my teaching job. I tutor every now and then. I'm planning to move to England in a year or so with my husband, daughter, dog, and hopefully baby number two. And I want to become a better writer.

I spoke to my husband about the dilemma I feel (not sure that I'm any good at writing), and he said that I'm not bad, and I could be better if I stopped sporadically writing, and instead wrote every day, or at least more than once a month. Or once ever year. So, with his help, I'm going to be taking an hour, half an hour, some time every day. EVERY DAY. To write. Even if it's crap. As my husband says, every writer writes something crap.

Here goes nothing.
